seReive 1.02 Adds Timeline And Improves Picture Upload

(English further down)

Last Friday late afternoon we released seReive 1.02. New one can now post photos directly to a Facebook album. Previously they were only uploaded to the seReive server. Because it is not possible on Facebook, to brand a post and simultaneously upload a photo into an album, we have rewritten the software so that only one of two options can be selected.
The key innovation, however, is the Timeline with its editing capabilities. It replaces the previous Archive. In addition to all previously sent posts you can now see pending messages in the Timeline. These can either be deleted or edited.
If there are groups of messages that have been released jointly and simultaneously on sending, you can delete individual posts. But if you want to edit text, photos or sending date, this is only possible when clicking on the whole group. The then opening editing window treats the posts as if they would be released from scratch. The editing window is equal to the Send panel. At the same time, these posts will be removed from the pending posts’ cache. This means that if one does not click to send after editing, these posts will not be sent. They would then in fact be deleted. Conversely, this method, true to our motto, gives users the greatest flexibility with greatest ease of use. Happy New Year And 10 More Days Of Free Use

Hello!

Here I am, seReive 1.0 – after two years of intensive testing I have become the world’s simplest and most flexible social media cockpit.

I wish you all a Happy New Year, good health, happiness and that all your plans may be successful.

To celebrate this official transformation we decided give all my users ten more days of free use.

(We were also asked to do so, because many users are still away on a holiday and offline.)

This means, you may keep testing as a Gold user until 12.1.12 (Thursday, 12th January).

Happy Testing,

seReive

Change In Account Panel: You Can Now Request Your Price Plan

Message to users: in preparation of the launch of seReive 1.0 we have changed the account management panel. You can no longer change your subscription status by yourself. You can now send requests which will be answered within 24 hours. Currently all users are on a Gold plan. This will change after a last trial period of a few days after 2.1.12 (2nd January 2012) when we launch seReive 1.0. If you don’t want to lose functionalities that you have only with a paid plan (Bronze, Silver, Gold) you can now request to be put one of these paid plans. Payment instructions will follow.

We Made A Mistake

In our last newsletter we suggested that you to test seReive during the holiday season in order to learn about the cool features that make this social media cockpit really unique. However, as the result of a misunderstanding somewhere in our team you had these features available only, if you actively changed your price plan from Bronze to Gold. As we cannot expect our users to understand that they would have to do that, we set you all on a Gold plan this morning. This means that now you have full access to all features without having to do something for it. This will automatically end when we release seReive 1.0

What We Recommend To Test
Our small team of three people spent a lot of our own money and time for the development of seReive. In order to be able to develop her even further we have to end the free trial period and start offering paid plans. After the release of seReive 1.0 on 2.1.12 at 21:12 CET all users who are not on a paid plan yet will automatically be switched to the Free plan. We hope you understand. Before that happens we recommend you to test the following features which will not be available on a free plan anymore (or they won’t make sense):
  1. Brand Your Post / Branded Posts: add a brand name with embedded URL to your post as the brans behind the message (only Facebook and LinkedIn)
  2. Grouping: combine a selcetion of networks, Facebook pages, groups or friends’ walls to a group in order to have a better oversight and organize you networks easier
  3. Email Notifications (1): receive notifications for comments or likes from Facebook walls that somebody else created. It is enough to like a page, be member of a group or be the friend of a person in order to activate notifications for what his going on there. Great tool for competition monitoring!
  4. Email Notifications (2): set them on immediate, hourly, twice a day or daily
  5. Unlimited number of social networks, Facebook groups, friends and pages, even if you are not administrator
  6. When you are a Facebook page’s admin: choose easily between posting as yourself and posting as the page
Happy New Year!

P.S. You can use the demo account with username guest and password guest if oyu just quickly want to see what seReive has to offer, but you won’t get Email notifications, as they go to their own Email-address.

seReive 0.4 is online with a few improvements and unlimited characters (dt.)

(German translation further down)

This morning seReive 0.4 went online. (Unfortunately there is currently still a problem with posting to MySpace, which does not work. Our developers are working on a solution.)

seReive 0.4  offers you the possibility to post a text of unlimited length. For two reasons we decided to repeal the limitation on text-length. First, via seReive you can post to a WordPress blog. Here a limitation has never made any sense, because WordPress posts can be any length. On the other hand, Facebook recently allowed posts with a length of up to 63’206 characters. So on Facebook, too, it makes no longer sense to limit the number of characters to 420. Other networks have different limits. 700 for LinkedIn and still 140 for Twitter. It is now left to the users to watch that a post is not too long.

With respect to that the second improvement comes in handy. The counting of the number of characters has been improved. So far, it could happen that a post appeared to be shorter than it really was. Some characters that appear as a single character when you type them are HTML-encoded. Code for such characters can actually be up to 5 characters long. For example, an ‘ encodes as %27 – turning a single character into three. Since today seReive will count characters in HTML code, so that it should no longer occur, that a tweet gets split into two, because it only seems to be less than 140 characters long, while in reality it is longer.

What we could not solve is the inclusion of images. Pictures that you post require a – variable – number of characters, too. E.g. twitter creates a URL and includes it into the post. Counting this is not possible, because it happens after the message gets delivered to Twitter. To be on the safe side we recommend to consider pictures as having 25 characters and developed a warning that will warn you when a Tweet with picture is longer than 115 characters.

The last improvement is purely graphical in nature. We found that many new users do not recognise seReive’s buttons on computer screens. On mobile devices buttons are clearly identifiable, but on computer screens until now you could only see the text. Now buttons have a magenta-colored frame. In German: Read more of this post
