Letzten Freitag am späten Nachmittag haben wir seReive 1.02 veröffentlicht. Neu kann man jetzt Fotos direkt in ein Facebook Album posten. Bisher wurden sie nur auf den seReive-Server geladen. Weil es bei Facebook nicht möglich ist, einen Post zu branden und gleichzeitig ein Foto in ein Album hochzuladen, haben wir dies nun dadurch verdeutlicht, dass nur eine der beiden Möglichkeiten angewählt werden kann.
Die entscheidende Neuerung jedoch ist die Zeitleiste mit ihren Editier-Möglichkeiten. Sie ersetzt das frühere Archiv. Neben allen bisher verschickten Posts sieht man in der Zeitleiste pendente Nachrichten. Diese können entweder gelöscht oder editiert werden.
Handelt es sich um Gruppen von Nachrichten, die gemeinsam und gleichzeitig zum Versand freigegeben wurden, kann man zwar einzelne Posts löschen, aber wenn man Text, Fotos oder Versand-Zeitpunkt bearbeiten will, geht das nur, wenn man die ganze Gruppe anklickt. Anschliessend öffent sich das Editier-Fenster, das die Nachricht behandelt, als würde sie komplett neu veröffentlicht. Gleichzeitig werden diese Posts aus dem Zwischenspeicher entfernt. Das bedeutet, wenn man nach dem Editieren nicht auf Versenden klickt, werden diese Posts auch nicht verschickt. Sie sind damit faktisch gelöscht. Umgekehrt gewährt diese Methode, getreu unserem Motto, die grösste Flexibilität bei gleichzeitig einfachster Handhabung. Siehe auch Bildergalerie.

Last Friday late afternoon we released seReive 1.02. New one can now post photos directly to a Facebook album. Previously they were only uploaded to the seReive server. Because it is not possible on Facebook, to brand a post and simultaneously upload a photo into an album, we have rewritten the software so that only one of two options can be selected.
The key innovation, however, is the Timeline with its editing capabilities. It replaces the previous Archive. In addition to all previously sent posts you can now see pending messages in the Timeline. These can either be deleted or edited.
If there are groups of messages that have been released jointly and simultaneously on sending, you can delete individual posts. But if you want to edit text, photos or sending date, this is only possible when clicking on the whole group. The then opening editing window treats the posts as if they would be released from scratch. The editing window is equal to the Send panel. At the same time, these posts will be removed from the pending posts’ cache. This means that if one does not click to send after editing, these posts will not be sent. They would then in fact be deleted. Conversely, this method, true to our motto, gives users the greatest flexibility with greatest ease of use. Here I am, seReive 1.0 – after two years of intensive testing I have become the world’s simplest and most flexible social media cockpit.

1. Brand Your Post / Branded Posts: add a brand name with embedded URL to your post as the brans behind the message (only Facebook and LinkedIn)

Exactly two years after seReive’s first launch, seReive 0.4 went online today, with a new feature that we really love: Branded Posts. This feature allows to to add to your message a brand with link. It was wanted by SOMEXCLOUD, the Swiss Social Media Academy. They asked, we listened. Thank you, Gustavo!

The End Of Beta
On 2.1.12 (2nd January 2012) at 21:12 CET we will launch seReive 1.0 For some users this means the end of the free trial phase. So use the holiday season to do some final and extensive testing.

If you are not one of those lucky 364 first users who were granted a life long free subscription and you are not a paying customer you will be automatically switched to a Free plan after the 2.1.12 at 21:12. «Free» means you can still use seReive but with limitations, e.g. no multi-posting. There will be a short maintenance period after 21:12 on 2.1.12

A Few Words On Branded Posts
Basically this new feature allows you to send a link and a brand name with your posts. Currently only Facebook and LinkedIn are allowing this. We are hoping that Twitter will follow as soon as they release their new API.
You can choose any brand you want. If you are an agency with several customers, you can post one message as from your agency and the next one as from your customer. There is a scroll-down menu under the send-field to choose the brand. It’s totally easy.
To set up brands, go to the settings-panel where you can “create a brand”.

In the screenshot to the left the brand is called “- click to find out!” and its link leads to this blog.

seReive hat eine neue Funktionalität. Neu kann man einer Botschaft einen Markennamen und einen Link hinzufügen, als Absender der Botschaft. Dies geht jedoch nur bei Facebook und LinkedIn. Hoffentlich bald auch bei Twitter. Am 2.1.12 um 21:12 endet die Beta-Phase. Ab dann müssen alle Nutzer zahlen, ausser den ersten 364, die das Glück hatten, eine lebenslange Lizenz zu bekommen. Wer jetzt und bis dahin noch nicht zahlt, wird dann automatisch auf die gratis Abo-Variante geschaltet, die nur eingeschränkte Funktionen hat. Um herauszufinden, welche Abos es gibt, klicke hier. Nutze die Weihnachtszeit für letzte Tests, und entscheide Dich dann für das richtige Abo.

This morning seReive 0.4 went online. (Unfortunately there is currently still a problem with posting to MySpace, which does not work. Our developers are working on a solution.)

seReive 0.4  offers you the possibility to post a text of unlimited length. For two reasons we decided to repeal the limitation on text-length. First, via seReive you can post to a WordPress blog. Here a limitation has never made any sense, because WordPress posts can be any length. On the other hand, Facebook recently allowed posts with a length of up to 63’206 characters. So on Facebook, too, it makes no longer sense to limit the number of characters to 420. Other networks have different limits. 700 for LinkedIn and still 140 for Twitter. It is now left to the users to watch that a post is not too long.

With respect to that the second improvement comes in handy. The counting of the number of characters has been improved. So far, it could happen that a post appeared to be shorter than it really was. Some characters that appear as a single character when you type them are HTML-encoded. Code for such characters can actually be up to 5 characters long. For example, an ‘ encodes as %27 – turning a single character into three. Since today seReive will count characters in HTML code, so that it should no longer occur, that a tweet gets split into two, because it only seems to be less than 140 characters long, while in reality it is longer.

What we could not solve is the inclusion of images. Pictures that you post require a – variable – number of characters, too. E.g. twitter creates a URL and includes it into the post. Counting this is not possible, because it happens after the message gets delivered to Twitter. To be on the safe side we recommend to consider pictures as having 25 characters and developed a warning that will warn you when a Tweet with picture is longer than 115 characters.

The last improvement is purely graphical in nature. We found that many new users do not recognise seReive’s buttons on computer screens. On mobile devices buttons are clearly identifiable, but on computer screens until now you could only see the text. Now buttons have a magenta-colored frame. In German: Heute morgen ging seReive 0.4 online. (Leider besteht zur Zeit aber noch ein Problem mit dem Posten auf MySpace, das nicht funktioniert. Unsere Entwickler arbeiten an der Lösung.)

Mit seReive 0.4  können Sie nun einen beliebig langen Text posten. Wir haben aus zwei Gründen entschieden, die Limitierung der Textlänge aufzuheben. Zum einen kann man mit seReive auf WordPress-Blogs posten. Hier machte eine Limitierung noch nie Sinn, weil Posts bei WordPress beliebig lang sein können. Andererseits erlaubt Facebook neuerdings Posts mit einer Länge bis zu 63’206 Zeichen. Also machte es auch bei Facebook keinen Sinn mehr, die Anzahl auf 420 zu begrenzen. Andere Netzwerke haben andere Grenzen. 700 bei LinkedIn und weiterhin 140 bei Twitter. Es bleibt nun den Nutzern überlassen, aufzupassen, dass ein Post nicht zu lange wird.

Darum dreht sich auch die zweite Verbesserung: die Berechnung der Zeichenzahl. Bisher konnte es passieren, dass ein Text als kürzer erschien, als er wirklich war. Manche Zeichen, die als einzelnes Zeichen im Text erscheinen, sind HTML-kodiert. Im Code sind diese Zeichen dann bis zu 5 Zeichen lang. Zum Beispiel wird ein ‘ als %27 kodiert. Aus einem einzelnen Zeichen werden dabei drei. Neuerdings zählt seReive die Zeichen im HTML-Code mit, so dass es nicht mehr vorkommt, dass ein Tweet in zwei gespalten wird, weil er nur scheinbar weniger als 140 Zeichen lang, in Wirklichkeit aber eben doch länger ist.

Nicht möglich ist die Berücksichtigung von Bildern. Postet man Bilder, benötigen diese ebenfalls eine – variable – Anzahl Zeichen. Zum Beispiel kreiert Twitter eine URL, die in die Nachricht eingefügt wird. Diese mitzuzählen ist  nicht möglich, weil sie erst nach dem Versand an Twitter gebildet wird. Um auf Nummer sicher zu gehen, empfehlen wir, eine Länge von 25 Zeichen anzunehmen und haben eine Warnung programmiert, die auftaucht, falls ein Tweet mit Bild länger als 115 Zeichen ist.

Die letzte Verbesserung ist rein grafischer Natur. Wir stellten fest, dass viele neue Nutzer auf Computer-Bildschirmen die Buttons nicht erkannten. Auf mobilen Geräten sind diese zwar klar als Buttons zu erkennen, aber auf Computer-Bildschirmen konnte man bisher nur den Text sehen. Neu sind Buttons von einem Magenta-farbenen Rahmen umgeben.

However, not everything is possible. The options we can offer depend on the options that we get from the social networks as part of their API. Here’s what you can get notifications for:

Twitter: retweet / mention

Facebook: like / comment

LinkedIn: like / comment

MySpace: comment

By the way, did you notice that you activate notifications for any wall that you own or are connected to? It means in practice that you can activate them also for competitors’ or opponents’ Facebook pages or groups. After that you will never again miss a discussion taking place there or posts that people like.

Gruppenbildung

Dies ist unser Favorit dieser neuen Version. Wir freuen uns sehr, dieses neue Feature anzukündigen, das – soweit wir wissen – keine andere Social Media Software bietet und das uns einen riesigen Schritt weiterbringt in Richtung unserer Vision von der Schaffung des weltweit effizientesten und flexibelsten Social Media Cockpits, das Social Media Marketing so einfach wie möglich macht: die Bildung von Pinwand-Gruppen («Gruppenbildung / Grouping»). In den Einstellungen können Sie nun Gruppen von Netzwerken / Pinnwänden Ihrer Wahl erstellen.

Wenn Sie z.B. verschiedene Kunden oder Social Media Teams haben, können Sie hiermit eine beliebige Auswahl von sozialen Netzwerken, Facebook-Gruppen,-Seiten und Freunden als eine bestimmten Gruppe verwalten. Social Media Teams können eine Gruppe jener Pinnwände erstellen, die sie am häufigsten verwenden.

Nachdem Sie eine Gruppe von Pinnwänden erstellt haben, können Sie entweder auf alle Pinnwände innerhalb der Gruppe posten, oder Sie können eine Auswahl der Pinnwände anklicken und nur dorthin posten. Die Vorteile dieser neuen Funktion sind, dass alle Pinnwände, die zusammengehören, auch zusammen angezeigt werden. Dies hilft zu vermeiden, dass eine Nachricht, die zu  Kampagne A gehört, versehentlich an eine Pinnwand von Kampagne B gepostet wird, und es macht die Verwaltung von verschiedenen Kampagnen oder Kunden viel einfacher.

Im Bild sieht man die Pinnwände, die zu einer Gruppe namens “Test” gehören und darunter die übliche Liste von Facebook-Konten und anderen Pinnwänden.

Zur Nutzung dieser coolen, neue Funktion gehen Sie zu den Einstellungen und klicken dort auf “Create a group / Gruppen bilden”. Der Rest ist einfach.

Senden und Empfangen

seReive 0,3 bietet endlich das, wofür seReive steht: Senden und Empfangen («Send&Receive»). Sie können jetzt nicht nur Nachrichten an Ihre Netzwerke, Seiten, Gruppen und Freunde senden, sondern bekommen auch Benachrichtigungen, wenn es Reaktionen gibt. So dass Sie diese nicht verpassen. Benachrichtigungen gibt es aber auch für Reaktionen auf Beiträge, die von anderen geschrieben wurden, und zwar bei denen Sie nicht einmal ein Administrator sind. Es genügt, wenn Sie diese Pinnwand favorisiert («like») und seReive hinzugefügt haben.

Dieses coole Feature kann Ihnen deshalb dabei helfen, zu überwachen, was auf bestimmten Seiten passiert.

Alles, was Sie tun müssen, ist bei den Einstellungen die Pinnwand anklicken und seReive mitteilen, wie oft Sie  Benachrichtigungen wünschen.

Zeitversetztes Posten (Scheduling)

seReive’s letzte neue Funktion ist nicht weniger wichtig, aber weil viele andere Tools sie schon haben, weniger spektakulär: zeitversetztes Posten. Sie können neu eine Zeit und ein Datum auswählen, an dem Ihre Nachricht veröffentlicht wird. Vergessen Sie aber Sie nicht, Ihre Zeitzone in der Konto-Einstellung anzupassen.

Grouping

This is our favourite of this release. We are very happy to announce this new feature that no other tool that we know is offering and that takes us a huge step further towards our vision of creating the most efficient and most flexible social media cockpit in the world that makes social media marketing as easy as possible: set up groups («Grouping»). In the settings you can now create groups of networks/walls of your own choice.

E.g. if you have different customers or teams you can manage any selection of social network accounts, Facebook groups, pages and friends as one specific group. Social media teams can have a group of those walls that they use frequently.

In the Send Panel you can either post to all walls within a group or you can choose a selection of the walls of a specific group. The advantages of this feature is that all walls belonging together are displayed together. This will  help you to avoid posting a message that belongs to campaign A to a wall that belongs to campaign B. And it makes the management of different campaigns or customers so much easier.

In the picture you can see the walls belonging to a group called “Test” and beneath it the usual list of Facebook accounts and other walls.

To use this cool new feature go to the Settings Panel and click the “Create a group” button. The rest is easy.

Send & Receive

seReive 0.3 finally offers what seReive stands for: send & receive. You can now not only post messages to your networks, pages, groups and friends, you can also receive notifications so that you don’t miss any reactions on your posts. You receive notifications even for reactions on posts that were made by others and on walls that you are not even an administrator of. It is sufficient if you liked that wall and set it up in seReive.

This cool feature can help you to monitor what’s happening on pages that you liked or administrate.

All you need to do is go to the Settings Panel, click on the wall you want notifications for and tell seReive how often you want those notifications. The bad news is: after launching seReive 1.0 this feature will be available only to Bronze, Silver and Gold users (http://sereive.com/#planPanel) – and of course to those who received a lifelong license after our very first launch of seReive in December 2009. Be aware that this feature is not available on all networks as it depends on what the network provider allows third parties to have access to.

Scheduling
seReive’s last new feature is not less important, but as many other tools have it already, it is less spectacular: scheduled posting. You can now define a time and date when your message shall be published. Don’t miss to adjust your timezone in the Account Panel.
